Tremco, Inc. Project
We are currently conducting a recycling project in Beachwood, Ohio at the Tremco, Inc. headquarters. In this project we hope to achieve our 0% landfill policy.
Wyco's Waste Diversion Goals for Tremco Project
Our goal is to achieve 100% C&D waste diversion. This will involve a detailed workable plan that will not impede normal construction/demolition schedules but instead provide a new means for contractors and building owners of dealing with wastes. A series of recycling trials will be run during the course of this project on certain materials that to date have no known "true" recycle options. Different processing techniques; manual, chemical and mechanical, will be explored to find viable and financially prudent methods to return base material components of the built-up roofing system back into new products. We will strive to establish end of life cycles for all products used and produced from this project to be in place for the future when this building is retired from useful service.
Wyco’s secondary goal is to stimulate and sustain the local recycling industry. Our 0% landfill initiative on all company projects will encourage local recyclers to invest in equipment and personnel to satisfy demand. We will work closely with recyclers to develop processes for refining waste materials to meet end users specifications. The creation of viable secondary markets for recycled materials is critical to the success of this effort. Several "new" products using recycled material created from this project will be used in the new construction. The performance of these products will be tracked for possible future development. Community interaction is being encouraged by using local labor and participating with charities for donation/re-use of the interior fixtures. Habitat for humanity has been chosen as the recipient of all usable interior fixtures. An intern from Ohio University has been employed to collect data on our recycling trials. The data collected will be used to assist in future projects.
